What is Masonry?

Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man is responsible for making the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.

Our Mission and Our Lodge

Union of Strict Observance Lodge #3 Detroit is committed to fostering personal growth and enriching the lives of others. We uphold the responsibility for the well-being of our brethren, our families, and the wider community. Embracing principles of respect, kindness, and tolerance, and celebrating our diverse backgrounds – religious, ethnic, cultural, generational, or educational – we endeavor to create harmony with our individual lives, our lodge, and the global community.

Our meetings convene on the first Tuesday of each month at the Masonic Temple of Detroit. As a lodge, we actively engage with our community, organizing various charitable and educational events and social gatherings throughout the year. While some events are exclusive to members, many include our families, friends, and the community, promoting collective involvement and enjoyment.

Join Us

Membership at Union of Strict Observance Lodge #3 Detroit is available to men aged 18 and above, provided they meet the criteria and uphold the standards of character and intention while also sharing a belief in a Supreme Being. Men from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds are warmly welcomed.

In line with Freemasonry tradition, we don’t actively solicit members; individuals must willingly seek membership of their own accord. Anyone curious about the fraternity is encouraged to seek information.

This is a great time to start the process for those considering applying for membership at our lodge. Feel free to contact us to arrange a visit during one of our events or to request further details.
